How to use:

This tool is used to calculate how to dilute a concentrated stock solution to a specific lower concentration and final volume using the C1V1 = C2V2 equation.

  • Enter three known values (Concentrations C and Volumes V).
  • Select the units for each value using the dropdown menus (M, mM, µM, nM or L, mL, µL).
  • Leave the field you want to solve for blank and click the "Calculate" button.
  • Once complete, click "Save PNG" to export the calculation to your lab records.
Example (1:1000 Dilution):

To make 1 mL of a 10 µM solution from a 10 mM stock:

  • C1: 10 mM
  • C2: 10 µM
  • V2: 1 mL
  • Result: V1 = 1 µL
Unit Key:
1 M = 1,000 mM 1 mM = 1,000 µM 1 µM = 1,000 nM
